The children and their families include the migrants from West Bengal and Bihar, residing in the outskirts of Gurgaon city. These migrants come in search for livelihood and better standard of living from their native villages which do not provide them with such opportunities. They live in a make shift temporary tents provided to them by some agent on a monthly rental basis. The migrants residing in these slums are involved into housekeeping job like cleaning, washing, cooking, gardening and full time maids. As both the parent are engaged into some kinds of livelihood, the children are vagabond, wondering in the street, either rag picking , working as servants begging or involved into non productive activities. The parents do have interest to send their children to school but because of lack of information, affordability and accessibility, they do not send their children to school.  These children seek facilitators which will provide them with opportunities through quality education, good health and a secured future.

Upset by the condition of the children and the disparities that exit between a privileged and underprivileged children and with the motivation to bring this children into the mainstream and give them equal opportunities for development, ACT identified a slum area in the outskirts of Gurgaon in Ghata village area to begin with .The objective is to streamline the education needs of the non school going children of the migrant labours living in the NCR region of Gurgaon , Haryana
